Do I need both an English and a Hindi newspaper?

The common requirement is one English paper and one paper in the local language of your area. Check the latest Passport Seva document list before booking.

Is a gazette notification needed for a passport?

Often not for a passport alone, where the affidavit and newspaper ads are usually enough. Other records, such as government jobs, may ask for the gazette.

For a passport, a marriage certificate is often accepted instead. See the surname-after-marriage guide.
